Basic motion, Cairo (6 – 24 July )2008
Inspired by the intensity of the traffic, the activity of the city and the liveliness of the people in Cairo, the Swiss artist Anastasia Katsidis, together with Egyptian artists Ahmed Badry and Enas El Sadiek present an art exhibition under the name, Basic motion. The exhibition will be realized in the factory space of the Townhouse Gallery in Cairo, starting 6 July, and is supported by Pro Helvetia, Swiss arts council. Basic motion creates a composition of moving installations, which reflect on the everyday life of Cairo.
Exhibition
In “basic motion” 3 installations will be shown. The work of the three artists will be focusing on needs, wishes and fears in the everyday life of the Egyptian society. The exhibition tackles the cohesion and the traditions inside the families (Enas El Sadiek), the pressure of monthly bills (Ahmed Badry), the wish to escape and the imagination of a way to a better life (Anastasia Katsidis).
